Here are a couple of pieces that I have published throughout the semester:

Bloom

You’re not ready.

And that’s ok.

You find the comfort of your dark shell, safer, than what the world has to offer.

And that’s ok.

The world is beautiful, but mistake it not, it can be every bit as cruel.

Telling you that no matter how beautiful you find yourself, you will always be flawed.

And then that shell starts to look more and more inviting.

And that’s not okay.

So my darling, when you bloom, bloom like the sun shined just for you on that day

When you puff out your delicate pink petals make sure that your color gleams in the light so that people make no mistake of your presence.

And when you start to question your beauty, remember people don’t pick you for how ugly they think you are

The Lasting Evergreen

Tall and bold you stand

in the coldest and windiest of nights.

When your branches sway in the wind

I see you smiling at me.

Inside, you make a cool, dark, safe harbor

for animals of all kinds

who become tolerant neighbors.

Outside, your gentle nature hardens.

You don’t let the elements

strip you to skin and bones.

Like the sun and the moon,

you remain constant.
